My name is Hellen Oti,

I’m a Humanized Brand and Marketing Strategist and the founder of Brisque. We’d love to get to know more about you.

But first, let me introduce myself and tell you a little bit about why I started Brisque.

I grew up in Ghana and I moved to the United States to pursue a degree and explore my passion for marketing and technology.

Growing up in Ghana, I noticed that I had two passions, creative writing and technology. I would spend many of my childhood days writing different things – novels, poems, and even copywriting for advertisements just for the fun it. I remember writing a handwritten novel that would get passed around my class. My avid readers would wait patiently each week as I painstakingly updated my novel manually (yes, I can’t imagine doing that now.)

My two passions led me to head up marketing teams with technology companies. Rising to managerial positions after only three years in the marketing field. My passion for technology made digital marketing a natural fit, leading to my lifetime obsession with all things digital and data analytics in marketing. My technology background also makes it easy for me to understand your business and translate complex processes and products into simple to understand, relatable customer conversations.

The problem: Traditional Marketing is product-based.

When I started working in marketing, I noticed that traditional marketing is very product-based. The thinking is if I talk about how awesome my product is, then I can convince you to buy the product.

The problem with that assumption is that, throughout my marketing career each time I interviewed customers for case studies, customer mentioned that they were looking for solutions to their everyday problems and not necessarily “the next awesome product.”

The only way that your product can be seen as a solution to a problem is if customers can quickly and easily understand why your product solves their problem. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen if you are not focused on tackling the customers’ pain points in an easy-to-understand way.

Customers do not necessarily look for “awesome products.” They are looking for solutions to their everyday problems.
